Fireworks in a tree and countdown to Christmas!

Good evening Year 1!

Congratulations on another great week of hard working and super learning. As I reflect on this week and all you have achieved in such a short time it’s really incredible the robust learning environment we have created together.

This term the focus in History is on why we remember the 5th of November. As a way to begin the unit I gave the children the task of painting fireworks onto plastic bottles. After much post-preparation on my part (coating them with vanish, putting holes through them, and threading wire through them all) they were ready to decorate the tree directly outside our classroom. It’s so great to have a class art project bring our topic to life!

Even though it is only November, I decided that Christmas will come a little early to 1JM and we have put up our class Christmas tree! Each day I will select two (or more) children to pick a decoration to put on the tree. Every child will have a go eventually and probably more than once! Check it out so far.

I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into what 1Jm have been up to this week. I look forward to seeing everyone next week.
