Month: December 2022
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Thank you all for a wonderful Autumn term! I hope you have a fun festive period whilst managing to get some rest ready for the excitement that 2023 will undoubtedly bring!
Thank you for the very thoughtful cards and gifts- it has been a great pleasure teaching your children this term.
I have uploaded the next half term’s knowledge organisers and Spring 1 timetable to our Year3 blog site. We will not be doing PE on the first Tuesday back, but please do encourage your child to come back to school with their full PE kit (named) ready for our first PE lesson on Thursday afternoon.
See you on Tuesday 3rd January!
Best wishes

Educational Visit 15.12.22

Year 3 are off to visit Sarehole Mill this Thursday during school hours. Due to outside nature of these activities and the adverse weather (extreme cold) we have changed the trip from school uniform to wearing own clothes. I have strongly advised the children to wear warm trousers; walking boots or warm footwear with thick socks; multiple warm layers (it’s easier to to take off a jumper); coat; hat; scarf; and gloves.
I reminded the children that it’s much easier to take a jumper off than get warm once cold.
Please also remember to send them in with a backpack with a packed lunch (or order one from the kitchen) and a water bottle inside.
Best wishes

Making Rights Happen – Rights Respecting School
Well done to Year 4 for winning both the attendance and punctuality award last week! 99.7% attendance during w/c 28.11.22, along with only accruing a single late mark! Year 6 also had great punctuality! #WJISRR 📈📅✔️⏰

Christmas Fair
Today your child has been sent home with a small paper bag. Woodthorpe Friends would be grateful if you could fill it with a small gift, ready for our lucky dip stall at the Christmas Fair on 15th December. Some ideas for a gift could be stationary, hair ties, bouncy ball, fidget toy, small colouring book or crafts, balloons etc. Once filled please return to school via your teacher by Wed 14th December. We appreciate your support.
A heads up that raffle tickets are due in by Monday 12th. It’s brilliant to see so many children selling tickets. At my last count, the top sellers for each year group were…
Reception- Henry
Year 1- Cooper
Year 2- Alice
Year 3- there is no clear top seller yet!
Year 4- Mashq
Year 5- Rosa M
Year 6- Tristan
With the current overall top seller having sold 13 books! Amazing effort! But everything could change by Monday….
Stormbreak
We know this time of year can be tricky so we wanted to share our new WINTER PATHWAY with you. This is a pathway of nine stormbreaks focused on Hope and Optimism, including one brand new stormbreak from our forthcoming Breath Moves collection. Take a look at it here. This document allows children to keep stormbreaking at home over the holidays: https://stormbreak.org.uk/winter
